House by the Sea, Dublin, De Blacam and Meagher Architects
This seaside beauty is an Irish treasure. More specifically from the Coliemore Harbour region, Dalkey, Dublin.
The house, built on two levels was completed in 2006. The construction is more linear than vertical, the interior working more on spaces and textures than busy decoration. The lower level of the house is where the spa, the screening cinema and the guest accommodation are.
Clash Bench By Samuli Naamanka
I’m always intrigued and fascinated by clever design. Ergonomic thinking is so challenging and wonderful!
Finnish designer Samuli Naamanka found a way to reduce comfort with an important ergonomic factor, giving us the Clash Series. Clash stools, clash table, clash bench. I chose to feature the Clash Bench because it’s more interesting than a simple stool and clearly more complex than a table.
Exterior Folding Blinds Freshwater House, Chenchow Little Architects
It’s all in the details. This beautiful house is located in Sydney, Australia and has a unique way of being completely closed and yet absolutely opened to the exterior.
The dark folding blinds/screens surround the entire exterior of the house. It’s an amazing way to keep the interior connected to the environment and I wish more buildings would adopt this unveiling system.
The Wooden Bulb By Barend Hemmes
Now that’s a different bulb! And not because it has a revolutionary shape but because it’s made out of laser cut wood.
But no worries, there’s also a classic light bulb inside so you get to change it normally if you need to. This beautiful Wooden Bulb can light up your room from anywhere – hanging on the ceiling or lying on the floor, it’ll cast the same light spell with a little extra to any interior. (you can buy the Wooden Bulb by Barend Hemmes here)
Bookworm By Ron Arad
When I was a child, I always dreamed about creating something new, something completely innovative.
Consequently, I have great respect for those who are trying to improve our way of living with the smallest contribution. Ron Arad’s Bookworm is one of those aesthetically blessed objects meant to delight the eye and relax the mind.
Say A Little Prayer Lamp By Yiannis Ghikas
I found this lamp to be extraordinary not just because it’s designed in a funky way. It’s because it has a rather unique name and it serves a special purpose.
Being a bed side lamp is not very un-common. Only being a lamp that comes to light just before you fall asleep, in the few moments some choose to meditate, others choose to just think beautiful thoughts gives an extra something to a mere lamp. The white ceramic bed side lamp by Yiannis Ghikas is part of his Waiting List concepts.
