Wooden Flooring For The Kitchen Space
Based on a suspicion I had for quite some time now, I came to the conclusion that wooden flooring and modern kitchen spaces do rather well together!
Why? Well let’s take small places for instance: it works out the space delimitation between your living/cuisine place. It’s just one flooring finish, creating the illusion of endless space (limited, true, but optically deceiving endless).

The Lorden Residence By Vast Architecture
Every now and then, we will include a neighborhood project on Deco Journal. Because here you can (maybe) see your neighbor’s house. Because Architecture (and everything in and around) isn’t just for fancy budgets.
The Lorden Residence by Vast Architecture is a single family home planned and built for a family of six on a small site in Boulder, Colorado. The owner acted as general contractor and the house was energy – efficiently built using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) and Structurally Insulated Panels (SIP).
Peter Rolfe Gothic Style Console Table
Furniture designer and wood skilled craftsman, Peter Rolfe imagined a gothic styled console table with a modern twist and retro feeling.
Made from burr oak, oak and cedar, the console table has a wenge finish with an opened middle section (where the drawer is located). It’s a modern piece, ageless and original, witnessing the unusual sculptural work of Peter Rolfe.
How To: Vintage Fireplace
If you want a vintage fireplace with a modern twist, you should consider the contrast resulting from the usage of a cold, lifeless material like the concrete for the construction of a fireplace. That design move could surprise more than just aesthetically.
A concrete fireplace with a very interesting finish: an encaustic finish, a medieval painting technique (pigments in a wax suspension) which gives a most interesting patina is an excellent choice for an antique looking fireplace. You can also match your flooring to the concrete fireplace. (The fireplace pictured here was designed by Richard Beda)
