Powerhouse Villa 1, Netherlands Wins Best Private Interior Award!
Our dear friend, Adriana (thank you!) proudly suggested this wonder of architecture, awarded by her fellow countrymen with the Dutch Design Award for Best Private Interior.
It’s called Villa 1 and is made by the Dutch design agency Powerhouse Company through the joined design efforts of Charles Bessard, Nanne de Ru and Anne Luetkenhues for the interior design. Villa 1 is located in the woods of Holland and was designed to touch excellence in surroundings perspective and living comfort under strict local zoning regulations.
The special regulations pushed half of the project below ground with spaces carved out of the mass. I was most surprised with the shape of this house and the way it was worked around the nature. And another element worth considering closely – the bookshelf that looks more like a structural element than furniture. If you’re looking for an awarded artsy living space and you have little to hide, you may consider Villa 1 by Powerhouse Company.

wow! truly amazing. I love the wooden bedhead/wall, the open glass all the way around the house, the bath looks fab, and the book shelf is a really interesting idea. I guess when you have a house in the middle of nowhere, it doesn’t matter how much you want to hide!

I’ve always wondered if I’ll ever be persuaded to give up my classic style home for a modern one.Well I am and this is it!The purity in design is amazing and zen like.However I wonder how I’d furnish it.I doubt the practicality of the spartan effect.Anyway I love the space.

Penelope, “a middle of nowhere” is hardly to find in the Netherlands! But I know what are woods are like so I could move anyday into this beautiful space.
I would love to mix it with my own furniture and “mess the clean space up” with the things that make it more like a real cozy home….
