The Cross Table by Tna Design Studio

Cross Table TNA Design Studio

Whether you’re the religious type or you simply love puzzles, this Cross Table is something to consider.

Made from wood and steel, the Cross Table is signed by Tna Design Studio and was made for Sumitomo Bakelite & Trunk, Japan. It’s suited for public use more than private, but it sure looks fun and playful, especially when mixing colors. It also has a storage space you can use à volonté.

Surprising Chairs By Erik Griffioen

Chairs by Erik Griffioen wood

If you remember the Spider chair by Erik Griffioen, If you remember the Spider chair by Erik Griffioen, you may want to see these chairs too, signed by the same designer.

But the Low Rider and the three other chairs have very little in common with the Spider chair I presented to you few days ago. The Low Rider chair was inspired by the elasticity of rubber. No insects involved. And no insects were harmed in the making. It just looks so … stationary, I could easily see the Low Rider placed in some office, rising suspicions as lookers think if it’s a statue or.. something else! It must be a funny chair to sit in!

Florida Residence By Flank Architecture

Florida residence by Flank architecture 6

This residence was designed and built to match the surroundings. It’s located in a private golf club near West Palm Beach, Florida.

Half of the property is dedicated to the golf course and the reminder is a legally protected wetland. Thus, the house was carefully divided in public and private areas. The house receives generous natural light through its tall windows. I love the exterior walls and the natural interior. The view, however, is impressively calm and beautiful. This project is signed by Flank Architecture.

Greenwich Village Townhouse By Axis Mundi

Greenwich village greek revival townhouse

This Greek Revival town house located in Greenwich Village was built in the 1840s and rehabilitated by Axis Mundi.

They peeled everything to the very brick and started all over from plumbing and electrical system. The Warhol, Haring and Basquiat collections (the owners of the Greek revival town house are collectors of art) got a modernist home with marble mosaic bathrooms, custom bronze staircase, a bronze and mirrored screen and a chandelier (both very beautiful and made by Urban Archeology). The result is truly structured and funny and even if I prefer large spaces and minimalist interior decoration, the Axis Mundi renovation was completely successful.

Placid Lamp By Album

Placid lamp Album with box

Just looking at the pictures with Album’s Placid lamp I get a feeling of peace and calm.

Placid is a special lamp, in the form of a rabbit that functions with an extra low voltage halogen bulb. This allows the external temperature of the soft resin lamp body to reach a temperature (when switched on) similar to that of an animal! You can switch the lamp on and off by pressing the rabbit’s ears (connected to a pressure sensor related electronic device). It comes in a gorgeous metal box that you can use for storage purposes.

The Spider Chair By Erik Griffioen

Spider chair Erik Griffioen

Nature is the world’s greatest designer. Every other designer out there is just a pale copycat.

The Spider chair is just another proof to stand the test of nature. Made by the Dutch young designer Erik Griffioen, the Spider chair could raise your arachnophobia to yet unreached levels. Just imagine peacefully lying there and suddenly feeling how the chair is running away with you… itsy-bitsy spider…(just for the record, I couldn’t get this chair, I personally am in a very distant relation with spiders)
