House by the Sea De Blacam Meagher

This seaside beauty is an Irish treasure. More specifically from the Coliemore Harbour region, Dalkey, Dublin.

The house, built on two levels was completed in 2006. The construction is more linear than vertical, the interior working more on spaces and textures than busy decoration. The lower level of the house is where the spa, the screening cinema and the guest accommodation are.

The living, dining and sleeping areas are located on the superior level of the house, connected with the lower level through the glass bordered staircase. I have to admit, I’m generally against using that much glass (when you’ll have little children running around the house, you’ll see what I mean!), but I really like the glass floor connecting the two blocks of the superior level.

This wonderful House By The Sea was designed by the Irish Architects duo: Shane de Blacam and John Meagher from De Blacam and Meagher Architects. You can read more about them and their beautiful work here.
