House Tour – Cutler Residence New York

Today’s House Tour takes you through the Cutler Residence from Montauk, New York. It’s a project from 2007, made by Murdock Young Architects following the client’s request to build a house with maximum exposure to the surrounding nature.

The beautiful house is located in Block Island Sound, surrounded on three sides by water, woods and wetlands. The year round vacation home is L shaped, divided into public and private wings. More and more I see kitchens and dining areas upstairs. Downstairs you can find the family room, the outdoor living room, the pool with its attached sun bathing deck. The residence has four bedrooms and two of them can convert into a single guestroom for a family with children. To my eyes it’s a warm house, very connected and integrated in the surrounding landscape. Would you look at it as a vacation house?
