I’m always intrigued and fascinated by clever design. Ergonomic thinking is so challenging and wonderful!

Finnish designer Samuli Naamanka found a way to reduce comfort with an important ergonomic factor, giving us the Clash Series. Clash stools, clash table, clash bench. I chose to feature the Clash Bench because it’s more interesting than a simple stool and clearly more complex than a table.

Linear and elegant, the Clash Bench is effective and simple, everything you could ever ask from a bench. The seats are form-pressed different kinds of wood and the base is matt-/chromed. (you can read more about the designer Samuli Naamanka and see more of his work on his website, here)

What to do when you’re running out of bookshelf space? No, the floor is not a valid solution for your precious books!

The Platzhalter Bookshelf can be your answer! It’s a stretching bookshelf that enlarges your shelf with every added book! It stretches not because it’s a bad product but because it was purposely designed this way, including a hidden board that stretches with everyn new addition until it reaches its (predefined) limits. The Platzhalter Bookshelf was designed by a young German duo Nina Farsen and Isabel Schöllhammer and my only question is when will it go global!

Nicola From Bern’s Delta project is a bed with fiberglass reinforced plastic tubes. Surprising and very practical, this bed can be adjusted to different sizes of mattress.

There’s no need for tools to install this frame made from plastic and wood. The tubes can be telescoped to adjust the mattress size and the frames can fold to hold everything together. This product has a great potential and could help save a lot of space and time when it comes to folding and storage. As it’s made of plastic tubes and plywood I imagine it weights trios fois rien. So it’s another plus for the bed with tubular grid. Since it’s still a prototype, there’s no word about durability (yet). Let’s hope for the best so it’ll hit mass production!

If your family counts children who can’t reach the sink yet, here’s the smart deco choice you could make to help them keep clean: the pull-out steps.

Easy to integrate, easy to use, easy to store, the pull-out steps help your children grow up and learn to stay clean.

This pull out step can be designed for mostly any bathroom furniture, like a top-down drawer. It’s basically used in the bathroom for an easier access of the little ones to the sink but it could also be expanded to any piece of furniture where little guys access is needed.
Because it’s fun and could actually work, I wanted to share with you this very special table – the Pool table.

You can have your very own, very normal dinner table on one side and if you turn it, it will instantly transform into a Pool table in just few seconds. I don’t think the price is justified – $5,400 since this kind of two in one products normally target those who suffer from lack of space, but it’s an interesting concept after all. It’s available in two colors – oak and mahogany, it also comes with 2” snooker balls, 2x cues, 2 person scorer, chalk, brush and wood triangle. However, someone who can pay 5k for a table like this one, couldn’t be more likely that he/she had a special designated room for recreation and as such, playing pool in the dining room would be ridiculous? (via 1, 2)

A brilliant idea yet so overpriced! The F2 Folding Table by Nils Frederking is an easy to store, easy to mount and easy to use folding furniture.

It looks minimal and sleek and could work wonders in any space – from a private home to a lounge or restaurant. The table and be brought together with just an easy circular move. It’s available in walnut or gloss white lacquer and has a steel chrome frame. The three panels forming the top are ingeniously articulated. The table has also matching chairs that you can fold and unfold in three simple steps. You can see the demonstrative short movie for the Folding table after the pictures and see for yourself if the $2,720 price tag is justified.
