This natural toned interior from the Aurora 162 Apartment is the harmonious work signed by Bark Architects. The project was made for an executive couple in Brisbane’s financial district (Australia).

This urban apartment is softened by the white leather and the ebony hardwood and refined by the chrome details, the trompe l’oeuil wall-mirror and the large canvas.

The Californian Sebastopol Residence signed by Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects is a modest sized architectural beauty relying on the open view and the open space to create an impression of vastity.

The house belongs to two graphic designers and it was imagined and created as an open and communicative living design with decks located at either end of the house, decks opening onto paths leading to the beautiful pool on one side and on the studio/garage on the other.

The open floor plan, the clerestory windows, the decking, Sheetrock walls and Ipe flooring, it all works for a comfortable habitat with a spacious feeling to it. The house’s warm palette and the surrounding trees add to the peaceful overall impression. The Sebastopol Residence by TGH Architects is a great balance between modern and traditional, between nature and technology.

The Lake Tahoe Residence as designed by TGH Architects fully meets the client’s requests: to be a summer gathering place for an extended family, relaxed and simple.

Natural materials and neutral tones were used for this new summer house built on the footprint of a 1950s house and garage.

The Lorden Residence by Vast Architecture is a single family home planned and built for a family of six on a small site in Boulder, Colorado. The owner acted as general contractor and the house was energy – efficiently built using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) and Structurally Insulated Panels (SIP).

The house uses solar PV and thermal system providing renewable energy sources and cost – efficient comfort. Starting with the basement where a special space has been designed for the husband’s collection of beer nostalgia (also the TV and a mini bar have been installed in the basement) and getting to the main floor: there’s an open kitchen-dining-living space, an away space, a mud room, powder room and play room.

On the second floor there’s the master suite, the laundry room, an office, a boys room and a girls room and a large bath (which can be used by all four children in the same time). There’s a third floor with a small place for chess and an opening door to the roof top deck.

My Inbox’ attention was particularly drawn to this fine group of architects with vision and drive to take your dreams and built your house on!

This Mazama Washington residence is the perfect example. Looking all mountain-ish but also using elements of modern architecture, this house was designed by Finne Architects, a firm who believes in sustainable architecture and Crafted Modernism, using custom made items for every project, also available as stand-alone products.

When I hear the description “intimate villa”, I automatically start dreaming about a cottage-like home of mignonne proportions, but this Sandvik Villa put my imagination at rest: glass and aluminum can bring intimacy too.

The Sandvik Villa by Helen and Hard Architects is an four stories oasis of glass, aluminum and brick.

Though the very opened exterior could be a perfect giveaway, the interior is so calm and intimate, discrete and natural, it completely breaks you rhythm and gives you peace. Simple straight lines, neutral colors and unagglomerated interiors, everything hugs you, just like the surrounding nature embraces Jenny and Marius Sandvik’s Admiral Cruysgate Villa by HHA.

Two families have decided, upon retiring, to build their dream house/s using the same architect who has originally designed their homes 17 years before.

Being neighbors all those 17-years long really meant something to them, enough to ask architect Torin Knorr to design a unique home in Calistoga, California.

The contemporary home has 3,500 sq ft and includes two master suites, mirror-emplaced at opposite ends of the home. There’s also a library and guest bedroom, a large office and 2 double garages. The space is generously illuminated through the large windows, there’s not too much furniture and not too sophisticated either, so the houses really look warm and welcoming.

Using discrete nuances of butter and green, the design of this Contemporary Calistoga residence is a perfect example of simple elegance by Knorr Architecture.

Architect Nancy Copley doesn’t think being in harmony with the site of a construction is just a concept. She believes in that concept at the point of shaping her own home to really fit the site.

Not only she integrated her home in the surrounding nature and used the site’s specifics, but she made the nature part of her house. Nancy Copley’s house is the perfect harmony in the key of nature.

The low dome has two entries one of which is a cantilever door. The main entrance to the house is located at the end of a stone-steps alley, with water all around and even if you’ve entered the house, the natural dimension and the feeling of the interior garden can easily mislead you into believing you’ve entered the magic pond house.

The suspended staircase, the great room, everything is natural, everything is wood, everything is simple and integrated in the nearby surroundings. Nancy Copley‘s home may not be the most impressive architectural construction, but it surely is an eco harmonious and environment protective project.
